Broad Cross Stitch
The Needlepoint Broad Cross Stitch is a variation of the basic cross stitch, where the individual stitches are worked over a larger area, resulting in a bolder and more pronounced effect.

Broad Cross Stitch Instructions & Diagram

- Start by making a sequence (from the right to the left) of three vertical (up to down) stitches skipping six canvas threads each
- Move the needle two canvas threads to the left and two down from the top of the most to the left stitch
- Then, from there make a sequence of horizontal stitches (left to right) skipping six canvas threads each
- Let three free canvas holes between the last vertical stitch of the first broad cross and the first vertical stitch of the second broad cross
- Ensure that the horizontal stitches of adjacent broad crosses meet in the same hole in the canvas
- On the second row, the vertical stitches should slot into the gaps of the first
(End of the second row)
