- Make a diagonal stitch from top left to bottom right, skipping two canvas intersections
- Move the needle one canvas thread to the left (behind the canvas), and insert the needle from back to front
- Make a diagonal stitch from bottom left to top right, skipping two canvas intersections
- Move the needle (behind the canvas) three canvas threads to the left and one downward, then insert the needle from back to front
- Repeat the process as many times as needed
