Mariana is a freelance photographer and illustrator from Portugal, and she’s currently working on her Master’s Degree in Illustration and Animation at IPCA.
She is contemplative and attentive. She likes to watch people in their lives, on the beach and in cafes. Mariana is passionate about gestures and body language, and her work leans especially on women. She draws them with nostalgic expressions, with big black eyes, and strong eyebrows. These portraits are influenced by the people she met and passed by on the street in Mozambique, where she lived from 2012 to 2016.
Mariana’s work is very versatile. She is constantly pushing her style, drawing and painting from digital to manual, experimenting new materials and textures, working with different techniques and seeing what feels right for her at the moment.
