Mosaic Diagonal Stitch
The Diagonal Mosaic Needlepoint Stitch is a variation of the Mosaic Stitch where the stitches are worked diagonally across the canvas.

- Related Stitches: Mosaic Stitch, Scotch Stitch
- Recommended for: Small areas, Large areas, Backgrounds, Flowers
Diagonal Mosaic Stitch Instructions & Diagram
You can see the diagram of this stitch below.
- Secure the thread at the back of the canvas by tying a small knot and insert the needle from the back of the canvas to the front.
- Go diagonally upwards to the right, just passing through an intersection of the canvas and insert the needle from the front to the back.
- Move the needle down to the canvas hole just below the first stitch and insert it.
- Move two canvas threads vertically downwards and one canvas thread horizontally to the left and insert the needle from back to front, passing through a canvas intersection and inserting the needle again in the opposite direction.
- Repeat the steps alternating a stitch skipping one canvas intersection and a stitch skipping two canvas intersections.
