Tied Scotch Stitch
The Tied Scotch Needlepoint Stitch is a variation of the Scotch Stitch, commonly used to create textured patterns. In this stitch, additional straight stitches are added on top of the Scotch Stitch to create a tied or crossed effect.

Tied Scotch Stitch Instructions & Diagram
You can see the diagram of this stitch below.
- Start making a diagonal stitch (from left-down to right-top) skipping two canvas intersections
- Move the needle to the canvas hole below the first stitch and make a diagonal stitch skipping three canvas intersections parallel to the previous one
- Then (behind the canvas), move the needle three canvas threads down and two to the left, insert the needle, and make a new diagonal stitch skipping two canvas intersections
- Move the needle two canvas threads down and make a diagonal stitch in the opposite direction (from right-down to left-top) skipping three canvas intersections
- Repeat the process as many times as needed
