The Rice Needlepoint Stitch is a simple but versatile stitch pattern. It creates a textured fabric with a subtle raised texture that resembles grains of rice.

- Start by making a diagonal stitch from bottom left to top right by skipping four canvas intersections, then down the needle four canvas threads and make the second diagonal stitch by skipping four canvas threads.
- Next, move the needle four canvas threads to the right and two canvas threads down, and stitch diagonally upward to the left, skipping two canvas intersections
- Bring the needle two threads of the canvas to the left and one down, then stitch another diagonal stitch upward to the right, skipping two intersections of the canvas
- Make the last two stitches on the bottom ends of the X in a mirror effect compared to the top ones
