Chain Stitch
The Chain Needlepoint Stitch is a fun needlepoint stitch, formed by small loops that connect, like a real chain. This stitch can be used for line work, or to create an interesting pattern in small areas.
Stitch Details
- Stitch Structure: Solid-line, Chained
- Recommended for: Small areas, Flowers, Clothes
Chain Stitch Instructions & Diagram
You can see the diagram of this stitch below.
- Start by inserting the needle in the area where you wish to start the stitch
- Using the scooping technique, insert the needle back in the same space where you started, to create a loop, and scoop the needle until the next hole, 3 intersections down. Make sure the second stitch goes over the first loop, so it secures it
- If you want a tighter stitch, you can reduce the distance between the loops, but it is recommended to keep a uniform spacing along the stitches, so it looks even
- To finish the chain, stitch a single vertical stitch downwards to secure the last loop. And you're done!
