Long Stitch Variation: Random
We called this Long Stitch Variation the "Random Short/Long" since it requires quite a lot of improvise and the so-called "just wing it!". The goal is to experiment with varying lengths of alternating long and shorter stitches, that can produce some cool effects and unique textures.

Long Stitch Variation: Random - Instructions

- Insert the needle from (back to front) and make a small knot to secure the thread behind the canvas
- Zig-zag short and long stitches to avoid weaving the stitches back and forth as if you were darning
- Ensure that the thread on the back always returns toward the most recently stitched area, leaving the hole open for additional stitches
- Adjust the length of each stitch, and create gradients, shading, and dimensionality within your work
